However, I do have trouble spelling. As a teacher, I know that phonics is the right way to go for kids who need reading instruction. Many times whole language doesn&#39;t pan out. That is so true. I always say if you come by around lunch the house is spick and span; however come by around 4p and it looks like we didn&#39;t do a thing. This is mostly because we clean when the little ones are asleep and once they wake up OH BOY.<br />I&#39;m going to try out the deep cleaning ideas in addition to our daily rotations (I usually do these jobs). As in, I put them in time out when they were too loud. They caught on pretty quickly that way. Sometimes they play a computer game - Nathan plays and Maury watches, but that too is distracting for Timothy. If I really wanted to, I could have a box that I only brought out during that time. Now, when I have a newborn and 1 year old, it will be a different story. But the Amish started their child training at 2 years old and Maury will be three this year so he is perfectly trainable. ;)<br /><br />I love reading your blog and all your adventures and it makes me SOO HAPPY to see all that you are doing to create a home for yourself. I was just talking with someone else who does charlotte mason and she loves it too!<br /><br />How&#39;d you teach the littles to play by themselves? Another friend of mine has 2 younger children and is homeschooling for the first time this year her oldest who is first grade. Its going well but that is her biggest challenge, how to keep the younger ones occupied while she is doing school with the oldest.
